DUMP TRUCKS TIPS |
Maintain your Vehicle |
Taking proper care of your vehicle can add years to the life of vehicle and you can enjoy smooth ride without any problems. Maintenance of your vehicle can avoid tip overs up to 99%, for these you need to check for some points of the vehicle on a regular basis. Check the tire pressure of the vehicle on a regular basis. If the tire pressure is uneven on both the sides it may lead to tip overs, so make a point to check that the pressure is equal on both the sides of the vehicle. Examine each delicate parts on a regular basis and lubricate pins and bushings regularly, and also don’t forget to inspect suspension systems under load, this will ensure that they work properly and provide even suspension through out. If you notice weak suspension, replace it urgently. Don’t forget to inspect hoist cylinders on a regular basis, if you see any worn cylinder don’t replace them with smaller cylinders or with cylinders rates at lower operating pressure. Always make sure that repairs to the boxes leave the bottoms and sides unrestricted. If there is a rough patchwork repair on the top of the box, it can catch and hold sticky type of materials.

Loading on dump trucks |
It is very important to check for the weight of the load you are putting onto the dump truck, the box front to back must meet the agreed gross weight and axle weight limitations set by the Ministry of Transportation. The best way to keep proper weight is through putting the load as evenly as possible. If you feel that material is less likely to flow fluently then the trick is to lighten up the load on the top end of the box. A smaller loading is much better than having a full load which have more chances of causing a tip over. If you are making use of Box liners, then the dumping would be more smooth and they also help in keeping the box in good conditions.

Dumping |
The operators need to be very cautious of the areas they are dumping, care should be taken while dumping the material on soft and un even surfaces because they are inadequately compacted fill which can lead to tip over. The area where the dumping is going to take place is very important because that could lead to lots of injury and damage to vehicle too. The operators should be very cautious while dumping the material whether the land is soft or too harsh. The tailgate should be unlocked before dumping and care should be taken to check if the dump truck is placed on a plain surface
It is very important that the material being loaded on the truck is put on a reasonable level through out and also make sure when spreading the material from a moving truck, the material stands at the same level. The dump trucks should not be parked side by side while they are being dumped as there are chances of other operator of the dump truck being injured while the dumping operations are on. Also the care should be taken to see that surveyors, dozer operators, spotters, etc don’t work near the dump truck in the case if it tips over. |
