STE. THERESE, Que. — The PACCAR plant in Ste. Therese, Que., was named Business of the Year and received the Human Resources award in the large business category at the 27th edition of the Mercuriades competition.

The PACCAR plant in Ste. Therese assembles the Kenworth T300 line of medium-duty trucks.

“We’re extremely honored to receive these two prestigious awards,” Gilles Gervais, PACCAR Ste. Therese plant manager. “Every truck we build at Ste. Therese is assembled by well-trained employees with leading-edge technology. The result is world-class, quality trucks recognized throughout the industry for their excellent reliability, low operating cost and high resale value.”

The competition is sponsored by the Quebec Federation of Chambers of Commerce to celebrate outstanding achievements of Quebec businesses, which distinguish themselves by their excellence.

The Quebec Federation Chamber of Commerce represents a network of 162 chambers of commerce and 57,000 members exerting their professions in all sectors of the Quebec economy and territory.

The Mercuriades awards mark the third major honour for a plant producing Kenworth trucks in the past few years. The Kenworth plant in Chillicothe, Ohio, was named Quality Magazine’s Plant of the Year in the large plant category of over 250 employees last year; and the Kenworth plant in Renton, Wash., was honored with ASSEMBLY Magazine’s inaugural Assembly Plant of the Year Award.
