Based in Tokyo, Japan, Isuzu was listed as the world’s biggest medium to heavy duty truck manufacturer in the world for 2005. Isuzu Motors Ltd. Currently has assembly and manufacturing plants in Fujisawa, Tochigi and Hokkaido, Japan. The company became world famous for its production of diesel engines, producing more than 16 million in 2003 alone. These engines can now be found in automobiles throughout the world.

Throughout Asia, Africa and most of Europe, Isuzu is known for all sizes of trucks. In the 1990s when their small automobile sales dropped substantially, sedans and compact cars were taken from the line-up. This left the company free to manufacture the medium to heavy duty trucks that they are famous for. In fact for the last 21 years, Isuzu trucks have been the number one choice of American truckers for dependability and efficiency. More than 86 percent of all the Isuzu trucks that have been sold in the United States since the 1980s are still registered as being in use. Due to a decrease in the sales of their rebadged vehicles, Isuzu has announced a complete withdrawal from the American market which is expected to begin in January, 2009. Although Isuzu will continue to provide parts and vehicle support, due to slowing sales the only vehicles that Isuzu will sell in the United States after this date will be commercial vehicles.

Isuzu offers three categories of commercial trucks. The N Series offers the famous hexa-cube cab design and is currently available in either gas or diesel. The panoramic visibility of this series is one of the reasons that it has become so popular over the years along with the low cost of operation. The F Series boasts near perfect maneuverability and the patented diesel engine that has made Isuzu so famous. The last in the Isuzu line-up is the H Series. This series offers class 6 to class 8 trucks for heavy duty hauling and can handle up to 54,600 pounds with ease.

Written by Mehul Brahmbhatt on Sep 12th, 2008 | Filed under: Trucks

Ford has always been known to produce large trucks. In fact, their F150 pickup truck is the best selling truck of all time. But the F150 is not the only great truck can find in Ford’s lineup. The Ford F-350 is also one great heavy duty truck which has its own set of good attributes. There are numerous features and capabilities in the F-350 that has attracted truck drivers to come to love the vehicle.

The first thing that will strike about this truck is its size. The truck is truly designed to take on the heaviest of load. It has a towing capacity of 15,000 pounds which makes gives it the capability to tow heavy trailers, campers, fishing boat, or even livestock. The truck also has amazing off-road driving capability which makes it one of the top choices for any truck driver in town.

The Ford F-350 is available with three different choices of engines - all of which are capable of providing adequate power, as capable as a Volvo vent visor in protecting a car’s interior from snow or rain. Consumers can choose from either a gasoline powered V8, a massive V10 gasoline engine, or a 32-valve 6-liter, PowerStroke turbo-diesel V8 engine with cast iron cylinder block and cylinder head. For the diesel engine, an EVRT system is standard. The electronic variable response turbocharger balances the thrust needed by the wheels. This capability increases the fuel efficiency of the diesel engine.

For those who would want to buy an F-350, there are two gearboxes to choose from - a five-speed automatic transmission and a six-speed manual. To protect the car’s occupants or anything it is hauling, the Ford F-350 is equipped with TBC or the Trailer Brake Controller which balances the braking of the trailer. Disc brakes are also standard across the board; all wheels are fitted with high performance discs and equally high performance pads. The F-350 also has an anti-lock braking system which offers safe braking even on emergencies.

Whether go for a gasoline or a diesel engine,Ford F-350 will come with a huge 38-gallon fuel tank which holds enough fuel to feed the hungry horses inside the massive combustion chambers of the three engines. Gas mileage for the F-350 is not revealed though since EPA does not require vehicles such as this to state their gas mileage. This makes sense since most of these vehicles will be used commercially and not just for cruising around town.

The suspension system of the truck which gives it great off-road driving capability is a mono-beam suspension in the front with massive coil springs and an equally massive sta

GMC is also unraveling a brand-new pickup - Chevrolet Silverado. Said model is considered a threat that could take away part of Ford F-150 sales. Moreover, 40 percent of F-series trucks sold are Super Duty trucks.

New trucks is given extra towing capacity, refined suspension, a tailgate that turns into a step, and a brand new 6.4-liter diesel engine. These fresh features are incorporated to Ford F-150 pickup parts to pave way for a powerful, manageable and improved ride.

It’s like their crown jewel, and they’re going to protect it no matter what it takes.

Janesville is 1st Among Gm Plants

Written by Mehul Brahmbhatt on Sep 8th, 2008 | Filed under: Trucks

Although General Motors’ full-size sport utility vehicles has failed to top their segment at the J.D. Power and Associates quality study, the workers at Janesville are glad to know that they built the heavy duty trucks in GM’s lineup of large SUVs.

The GM’s Janesville plant has 2,800 hourly and salaried employees topping the Arlington, Texas, and Silao, Mexico plants according to Power’s annual quality study that measures problems per vehicle of new owners.

All the aforementioned plants build the Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe and GMC Yukon XL and Yukon. Consequently, these vehicles competed in the study’s “large multi-activity vehicle” segment. The Toyota Sequoia got the 1st place in the segment; the GMC products got the 3rd; and the Tahoe got the 5th spot in the six-vehicle segment.

SUVs made in Janesville had 73 problems for every 100 vehicles; those built in Silao had 79; and the ones made in Arlington had 92. He added that only the defects and malfunctions were recorded in the plant level; meaning workers had no control over problems on design.

A Look at the Aftermarket Custom Truck Wheel Market

Written by Mehul Brahmbhatt on Sep 4th, 2008 | Filed under: Trucks

Trucks have always been used as heavy utility vehicles for hauling or work related jobs. Nowadays trucks are even bought by people who have no purposes of ever using them to haul or tow any loads. The flourishing truck market consisting of pickup trucks, SUVs, and vans account for greater than a quarter of all new vehicles sold so there is also a high demand for the custom wheels for these vehicles.

Compared to other vehicles, trucks have a wide range of accessories that can be added to change their appearance or performance. They especially have a wide range of custom made wheels selections. In many cases the people don’t make these changes for a functional reason, they just do it to satisfy their whims. There have been cases where a truck lifted over 8 inches, has large oversized tires, tow bar, fog Lights, etc, and has never been off the road!

Custom wheels give more than just an added appearance; they also give a better performance. Choosing the wrong wheels on the other hand affect your results in a undesired way and can even damage the vehicle. The good thing about the custom truck wheels is that due to their recognition we can find a wide assortment of wheels to fit any truck no matter if it is a Ford or a Nissan, Four Wheel Drive, or Two Wheel Drive. The aftermarket custom truck wheel market has a product for any truck whether be it foreign or domestic.

Truck enthusiasts may like the European look in their truck wheels but these wheels are not up to the mark of the other trucks. Truck wheels are available in stainless steel, aluminum brushed, powdered coated, custom type and chrome. Their sizes vary from the diameter of 15 to 22 inches; there are even some that are larger than these. In choosing a truck wheel, we should judge the travel and loading requirements. Get truck wheels that will not be damaged by dampness so as to avoid rusting and deterioration.

Having reliable truck wheels is extremely important, whether the truck is a light truck or heavy truck. You will notice that with good and reliable truck wheels, all your worries will be gone. These truck wheels also give a quicker steering response and reduced braking distance. A great set of truck wheels will also glamorize your vehicle.

The Chevrolet Avalanche

Written by Mehul Brahmbhatt on Sep 2nd, 2008 | Filed under: Trucks

The Chevrolet Avalanche is a version of the remarkable re-engineered full-size pickups and SUVs that General Motors has started selling. It has such a charming appearance and has a lot of potentials of becoming a terrific truck. With the addition of some truck accessories here and there like for instance grille guards truck can help to further boost its looks plus safeness in which this truck lacks. grille guards truck can provide the front end with a bold, tough look while enhancing protection of the truck.

Despite the charisma that the Avalanche possesses it’s not enough to hide its flaws like for instance its lack of back seat room, its not so comfortable front seats, and disappointing fuel economy rating.

But then again in spite of the drawbacks that the Avalanche has it also has some admirable features such as:

• Its redesigned looks that share with all of GM’s full-size trucks which helps greatly in improving the Avalanche. It is also good that Chevrolet has finally decided to discontinue the grotesque side cladding which really help in improving the looks of the Avalanche.

• The modified cargo box of the Avalanche has deep, covered side compartments that can hold a lot of beverage containers, groceries, and truck supplies. They have drains so you fill them with ice or use them as coolers. The three-piece hard tonneau cover seals the cargo box, making it as a useful enormous trunk.

• And since it’s a new GM truck it was given a premium interior; smooth ride; agile handling, especially for its size. Its additional option and standard features are desirable enough that they can tempt you to overlook drawbacks.

The Avalanche has some flaws and these are as follows:

Cadillac trucks and some GMC trucks have six-speed boxes, which typically boost fuel economy 5 percent or more vs. four-speeds. On the other hand the Avalanche was given a four-speed automatic transmission which is not as efficient as those of the Cadillac and some other GMC trucks.

• The Avalanche lack rear visibility since its tailgate and cargo box block vision which makes it mandatory for would-be Avalanche owners to purchase the $250 rearview camera.

• Front seats have too much lumbar bump. It can’t be retracted fully unlike in some rival trucks.

• Head restraints are not provided for the middle rear rider making it a potential safety hazard. On the other hand, the safety belt for that slot is mounted to the back of the seat, positioning it low for a youngster in a booster seat.

• The back-seat room is too little, despite the generous 39 inches of legroom.
